Organizing Hacks for Your Hectic Schedule

Having a long list of to-dos is not something any of us look forward to! It can get stressful, and often we start to feel that we don’t have enough energy to do them all. So how can we hack the day and make the most of our time and energy each day? Try these organization hacks!

It’s best to keep your calendar away from rushed tasks, sudden meetings and outings, and the deadliest deadlines you have to beat in a short period of time. This can be done by making a conscious effort of organizing your schedule in a way that won’t be too much of a burden in the long run.

Know the value of your time

As the saying goes, “Time is Gold,” your time should not be wasted. This speaks remarkably true when it comes to working. Your time is worthy, and you should not waste it on meaningless activities that add no worth to your living.

If you set a value for your time, you will have to spend it on worthwhile things—be it activities where you can earn, be educated, and develop skills you need. You begin to have a mindset where you only spend time on things that matter. Instead of lying around for a couple of hours just to kill time, you will find yourself motivated to spend time learning and adapting new skills that shall make you a better person. This is effective in preventing procrastination at work too.

Write your tasks in a notebook

Having a to-do list is a motivational hack to keep you going. While there are many task management apps available online to help you in listing down your assignments for the day, you can go the old-fashion way by ticking off your to-dos through a trusty notepad. Write down all the things you needed to do from the highest priority to the least.

Rather than putting your to-dos on your computer’s sticky notes, having a physical tool to write on creates more impact in getting yourself to act together. It improves memory and productivity and lets you exercise writing from time to time. It lets you get creative as well when you use colorful markers when ticking off the tasks you’ve done so far, preventing you from looking constantly on your computer screen.

Prioritize the important

Now that you have determined the hierarchy of importance of your tasks for the day, it’s time to focus on what is the most pressing task at hand. Decide the most important and deal with it first before going to the least priority. This shall stray you from doing unnecessary things like checking your social media pages, watching teasers of your favorite TV series, or just bumming around during the time of the day when you should be doing worthwhile tasks.

Learn when to say no

Be mindful of the amount of work you have before adding more assignments and activities into your schedule. Do not forget to leave some time to allow yourself to rest. When you feel like you can no longer take on more work into your hectic schedule, know how to decline. Saying yes to everything people ask you will likely put a toll not only on your wellness but also on the level of performance expected from you. Take only what you can so you can deliver the expectations from you on time.
